No, not the band, though you're forgiven for thinking that, since this is a j-pop blog.
I've just finished watching episode 7 of City Hall. Let me say, I don't really understand the term "on screen chemistry;" it seems like it's just something used to cover one aspect of good acting. If you don't have chemistry, and you're supposed to, surely it's because you're not a good enough actor (or you have a bad director, more like). But the lead characters in City Hall have so much on screen chemistry going on you wonder what's going on off screen.
But as sexy as they are, the funnest couple is surely the wicked Counselor and her goody goody husband. Though they sleep in separate rooms, they still love each other, and it's a delight to see. He thinks she and all her political backroom dealings are cute.
If that's what on screen chemistry really is, then Kamenashi Kazuya's romance in Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge was just a pale, pale comparison. If it's really just of case of unskilled acting, then I'd say that he probably could do it, but for some agency-related reason, can't. Weren't the rumors bad enough with Inoue Mao and Matsumoto Jun? (even the leftover rumors are bad enough).
Akanishi Jin could definitely do it, but apparently in Anego they decided it was best if he just didn't talk. I can't argue really, with that conclusion, since it's something I've often said myself, but they could've done what they did with Kristen Durst in Marie Antoinette and had him at least be expressive.
If you just watch Johnny's dramas, you'd think that pretty much all passion had disappeared from Japanese TV. But, even Anego itself shows that's not true, the kiss the main character had with someone else's husband was passionate enough to make up for the 17+ boring kisses she had with Akanishi (he apparently counted).
